In 2013, this strain finished third overall for best sativa at the High Times Cannabis Cup. Red Congolese has a moderate THC content (of 18% to 20% on average), which can cause tingling and euphoric effects. Red Congolese originated in California from a mixture of Mexican and Afghan ancestry, despite the name suggesting African origins. Perhaps it is because of these international roots that Red Congolese has a distinct earthy flavor. SnowHigh Seeds occasionally confuses Red Congolese with Congolese Red, but the two strains are different. Red Congolese is a tall variety that can grow as tall as 6 feet. One of the simpler strains to grow, it thrives both indoors and outdoors. Compared to other strains, flowering takes a little longer, taking place at 10 to 11 weeks as opposed to the more typical 8 or 9 weeks.

Tangie, a strain with strong, unmistakable citrus and tangerine notes that was influenced by the well-known strain Tangerine Dream from the 1990s, has a distinctive aroma. Tangie is a cannabis strain developed by DNA Genetics in Amsterdam. It comes in both regular and feminized seed forms. Tangie is a cross between Crockett’s Farm Tangerine Dream and DNA Genetics’ select male Skunk. California Orange, also known as Cali-O, and Skunk #1 were the parents of the original Tangerine Dream. Tangie served as the model for the development of several citrus-flavored hybrids, such as Sour Tangie (East Coast Sour Diesel x Tangie), Tangie OG (Tangie x OG Kush), and Agent Tangie (Tangie x Agent Orange). Tangie takes between 63 and 70 days to reach full flowering, producing large yields of dense, sticky flowers with vibrant green leaves and noticeable orange stigma hairs. It grows tall until roughly the fifth week of flowering and does best outside. In the Northern Hemisphere, the growing season lasts from late September to early October, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it lasts from March to early April. Tangie won prizes in ten different strain competitions during its first year on the market and is well known for its potent, sweet-and-sour citrus flavor and strong aroma.

Granddaddy Purple, also called Grandaddy Purp or GDP, is a hybrid that was developed by breeder Ken Estes in Northern California in 2003. GDP was created by crossing a Purple Urkle and a Big Bud, and then backcrossing it with GDP. Granddaddy Purple typically contains high levels of caryophyllene, alpha-pinene, and humulene and has an average THC content of around 17%. This strain is ideal for use during the day or at night because, like the majority of indicas, it has been said to promote relaxation and sleep. GDP’s buds, a genetic winner, took first place for Best U.S. Indica in 2015 at the Denver High Times Cannabis Cup. The strain, which is obtainable in clone form from Dark Heart Nursery in Northern California, creates short, compact plants with close internodal spacing. Intense hues of purple, blue, green, and orange are frequently seen on leaves during their flowering cycle. Granddaddy Purple can be grown indoors or outdoors, but it thrives in a controlled climate. While outdoor growers can anticipate harvesting by late September or early October in the Northern Hemisphere and late March to early April in the Southern Hemisphere, the flowering cycle takes approximately 65 days to complete when grown indoors.

In order to create a fast-flowering hybrid with higher yields, the breeders at Barney’s Farm crossed OG Kush and Phantom Cookies to create Phantom OG. According to Barney’s Farm, it has a nutty berry flavor and an earthy citrus aroma. The THC content of this strain is estimated by Amsterdam Seed Center to be between 15-20%. Phantom OG’s Sativa genetics help it to grow tall, while its Indica ancestry gives it cold resistance and a short eight-week flowering time. It grows both indoors and outside, and the latter is ready for harvest in October. Tight clusters of light green buds with orange pistils and trichome-coated surfaces grow on large, central colas. Both the seed bank and the breeder report high yields.

Since TGA Subcool mated a Jacks Cleaner female with a Space Queen male to create what some claim is the best Haze strain ever, Jack the Ripper (JTR) has been killing fans. According to Amsterdam Seed Center, JTR has a high THC content of more than 20%, little CBD, resin-rich buds, a citrus aroma, and a flavor reminiscent of lemon mango. The smell of one of the phenotypes is more woody. JTR is a strong strain that has an upbeat, occasionally heart-racing effect. The deadly strain came in second at the 2017 Spannabis Cannabis Champions Cup and was listed in High Times’ Top Ten List in 2006. According to the seed bank, the hybrid with a 70% sativa content grows to a medium height. It grows well both indoors and outdoors and produces a large amount of flowers in eight to nine weeks.

According to legend, Green Crack is a hybrid of an Afghani landrace, a 1989 Super Sativa Seed Club, and Skunk #1. According to rumors, Cecil C., the strain’s original breeder, gave it the name Cush. Snoop Dogg, a rapper and cannabis activist, renamed it Green Crack to reflect what he thought were potent, sativa-like effects. In 2015, the variety came in third for Best Sativa at the Denver High Times Cannabis Cup. According to online sources, the strain grows quickly into a vegetative state and does well both inside and outside. The plant blooms in 49 to 56 days, and its small, densely clustered resinous buds are said to be small.

Some claim that Oakland-based California’s Purple Caper Seeds created the pure indica strain of Chocolate OG from OG Kush, Fire OG, and True OG, while others claim that THClones of San Francisco created it from Chocolate Rain and True OG. The top reported aromas of the Chocolate OG strain are sweet, cheese, and chocolate. According to reports, chocolate OG tastes like coffee and sour earth. An indica strain descended from OG Kush is called Chocolate OG. Due to its indica ancestry, Chocolate OG grows short plants with thick leaves. The average flowering period for Chocolate OG is between 56 and 63 days. It is best to grow the Chocolate OG variety indoors. Chocolate OG seeds are offered.

The sativa-dominant strain Blackberry Dream is a cross between Kimbo Kush and Super Silver Haze. Despite being predominantly sativa, Blackberry Dream grows into short plants with thick leaves. Ghost OG is a cross between Joe’s OG Kush, originally bred by the team at Apothecary Genetics, and a female Ghost OG (a perplexingly named phenotype of OG Kush). Because a breeder from the OverGrow.com forums going by the username OrgnKid gave a portion of the strain to another breeder going by the name Ghost, the original Ghost OG is believed to be a genuine Kush strain from the Kush mountain range. The Apothecary Genetics cultivar was backcrossed with OG Kush varieties to produce seeds and improve its genetics, but the original variety is only available as clones. In either indoor or outdoor gardens, Ghost OG plants flower when they reach a medium height. When grown outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere, the cultivar matures in early October after eight to nine weeks of indoor flowering. It is excellent for beginners because it is resistant to the majority of diseases and pests.

A Swiss sativa landrace and Skunk were combined to create The Church by Green House Seeds, who then bred the resulting hybrid with Super Skunk and Northern Lights. Church OG should not be confused with The Church. Fruit, spices, and sandalwood are among The Church strain’s most frequently reported aromas. It is said to have a taste of citrus, sweet fruit, and soil. Short, bushy plants that grow in environments with high humidity are produced by the Church. The strain matures fully in 56 days indoors and in late September outdoors, and it produces densely packed colas with heavy, spiced green nugs. Only seeds are available for the Church. Clones might be purchased directly from growers of this strain.
