Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies were crossed to create Mochi, also referred to as Mochi Gelato, Mochilato, and Gelato 47, by San Francisco breeder Sherbinskis. Sherbinskis claims that it tastes similar to the fruity, sweet, and minty Japanese frozen dessert after which it is named. The floral aroma of the strain blends with earthy, vanilla undertones. Mochi has a short, compact growth habit and takes 9–10 weeks to reach maturity. Online sources claim that growing is moderately challenging. The robust plant produces an abundance of big, tight buds that, when exposed to chilly temperatures later in the season, turn purple. With its dark green and purple foliage, orange and red pistils, and a shimmering layer of trichomes, mochi is said to have excellent “bag appeal.”
