True to its name, the high-yielding strain Big Bud produces extra-large, frosty, fragrant buds.
It started out as a cross between the Northern Lights, Afghani, and Skunk strains from Sensi Seeds growers in the United States.
In order to escape America’s war on drugs, Big Bud traveled to the Netherlands in clone form in the 1980s. Sensi Seed growers in the United States located the strain and back-crossed it with the genotype of its original Afghani parent as it spread throughout Amsterdam and developed into a commercial strain. The outcome was the more dependable, celebrated Big Bud of today.
The variety won the first Indica prize at the 1989 High Times Cannabis Cup.
Its growth characteristics are still impressive today. The strain may be easier to work with for experienced growers because it frequently needs additional branch support to prevent its enormous buds from snapping the stems. It thrives outdoors in a warm climate and grows quickly to a height of 50 to 65 days.
The Big Bud seeds that Sensi currently sells are regular, non-feminized.
